Meaning to My Christian Life, Samuel Goh

Growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska, life meant having fun, playing sports, and getting a good education. I grew up in a Christian home but I didn't know what loving the Lord meant. I went to church and attended junior high retreats, but it wasn't until high school that life began to take more meaning.

One afternoon, I saw that my heart toward the Lord was not absolute and that I had many other loves other than the Lord. I realized that in order for me to do anything for the Lord, I had to love Him first (Revelation 1:4). That's it! Meaning to life flooded my being as my heart was subdued by the love of God. I began to read the ministry of Witness Lee and his words echoed in my heart for the Lord and encouraged me all the more to give Christ the first place in everything. I was sixteen and was encouraged beyond doubt that the goal of my life was to simply love Jesus with my whole heart (Mark 12:30). That afternoon, joy filled my entire being as I gave everything to the Lord.

Today, I'm still learning to take Christ as my all, but I'm thankful to realize that the only requirement is to first love Him. The ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee continues to stir my appreciation for the Lord so much and fills my Christian life with meaning, hope, and joy!
